Lilium (2024)

“Nahid” is a girl from “Shahsavar”. A small town in the north of Iran. At university, her major was environmental studies, but due to some circumstances she couldn’t work in her favorite field and was forced to open an insurance office in “Shahsavar” by her own efforts. At the opening of the insurance office, she accidentally met a group that was going to run a project in the area. It was the “International project of Hyrcanian forests”, which was held for five years from 2013 to 2019 and its main aim was to protect forests and the area’s biodiversity with a community-based approach, that is a new approach in Iran based on indigenous knowledge and revival and preservation of past traditions and rituals by trusting and educating the local community. The result of this approach was not only preserving nature, but also an environmentally aware society, capable of sustainable use of resources. In this project, several pilots were selected in “Mazandaran”, “Gilan” and “Golestan” provinces.
Nahid’s greatest facilitation activity was the Hyrcanian Forests’ Conservation Project. But the turning point for her was when she went to “Baluchistan” (a deprived area in south of Iran) in 2018 as a recreational trip, but it turned into a facilitating trip where she tried to implement the knowledge that she gained from the Hyrcanian forest project there. “LILIUM” is a film about the journey that goes to the pilots of Hyrcanian Forests’ project after its closure and shows the massive impacts that the project made on empowering the locals. Also, it is a journey to Nahid’s inside, parallel to her emerging concern which is starting the facilitation job in “Baluchistan”.

Colorful Dreams (2022)

When I stepped into Dashtyari Region in Baluchestan for the first time, it was even beyond my imagination to see that the region and its people would change into the most important part of my life, a very important one.
In the movie “Colorful Dreams”, despite all the “non-existing elements”, I tried to talk about the “existing elements” whose initiators were the same people who had been living those “non-existences” for years, but after putting an end to “why”s and “how”s, have achieved a large portion of existences which did not exist before. To all those people who courageously fought and are fighting to make their dreams come true. Because my ultimate dream is to see no enthusiasm, dream, and wish fade away.
